Apple Teams Up with Globalstar to Pursue Satcom License in India, Joining Amazon and Starlink x

Tech giant Apple's partner, Globalstar, is set to join the growing list of companies vying for a piece of India's satellite communications market. The company has revealed plans to apply for a satellite communication (satcom) license in the country, following in the footsteps of industry leaders like Amazon and SpaceX's Starlink.

Known for its emergency SOS services integrated into Apple devices, Globalstar is looking to establish a wholly-owned subsidiary in India. The company has initiated the process by approaching the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to seek approval for its GMPCS (Global Mobile Personal Communications by Satellite) services.

This development underscores the increasing interest in India's satellite sector, driven by the government's push for digital transformation and the vast potential of the market. As more players enter the arena, consumers can expect to benefit from enhanced satellite-based services, including high-speed internet, emergency communication, and IoT applications.
